Cooper Andrews plays Jerry, a likeable Walking Dead who lives in the Kingdom serving as pun filled steward to King Ezekiel. The character of Jerry quickly became a fan favorite because he provides the audience with a bit of comic relief.
Immediately after his first episode on the show in October of 2016 fans were taking to Twitter in support of Jerry and posting comments like “WELL PUNS! THEY HAVE WELL PUNS! Screw it! Jerry is, now, my favorite.” from @TheeRizz and @SamAMcCabe exclaimed, “New favorite walking dead character. Jerry rules!”
Besides being in The Walking Dead (2016-2017) he is also known for Halt and Catch Fire (2014-2016), and the upcoming action thriller Den of Thieves (2018). Other popular works include TV Series Hawaii Five-O (2016) and Limitless (2015).
Andrews is half Samoan from his father’s side and of Jewish Hungarian ancestry on his mother’s, making him one of the few Samoan Jews in the world. While in high school, Andrews, with his friends, would shoot short films for class projects and was heavily involved with the drama club. Immediately after high school and with a martial arts background, Andrews pursued a career in stunts and fight design. This is what led him to work on low-budget independent films.
In 2005 Andrews became a boom operator and started working on higher budget films and television shows. He realized that being the “sound guy” was an incredible learning experience to becoming an actor. As a boom operator, he was now part of the private rehearsals with actors, directors, and cinematographers. Other than a one-week drama summer camp at the age of twelve, working sixty to eighty hours a week on set was Andrews’ only acting class.
Andrews enjoys cooking, screenwriting, archery, weightlifting, and his mother’s Raspberry Mountain Pie.
