Rick Cosnett starred as Eddie Thawne, a handsome detective who was dating Iris West (Candice Patton), on The CW’s hit series, The Flash (2014-2017). He is also familiar to audiences from his role on The Vampire Diaries (2013-2014) as Dr. Wes Maxfield, a professor at Whitmore College who was obsessed with conducting his research on vampires.

Born in Zimbabwe, Cosnett studied acting at the Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane, Australia. After spending some time in theater productions, Cosnett got his first break in the television series Forensic Investigators (2004-2005).

Additional television credits include recurring roles on Quantico (2015-2016) as Elias Harper, The New Inventors (2008-2009) and Headland (2005). Cosnett made guest appearances on such television series as Castle (2016), Continuing Fred (2013) and East West 101 (2007).

On the big screen, Cosnett can next be seen in the feature film Skybound (2017). Additional film credits include The Timing of Love (2012), The Bet (2006) and The Neighbor (2009).
