Contestants must be registered attendees of the current year Treasure Valley Comic Con.
Contestants who enter the adult contest will need to place themselves in a category according to their age and experience level
Novice Class – This category is for contestants new to costuming or costume competitions.
Journeyman Class – This category is for contestants with acquired skill in costuming or competition.
Master Class – This category is for contestants with significant experience with costuming or costume competitions who wish to receive scrutiny and specific criticism regarding their costume
Adult Category- 18+ This Category is for adults 18 and up. Store-bought costumes will not be judged. Your costume should be one you made or modified yourself. The Treasure Valley Comic Con contest rules are as follows:
We are looking for originality, craftsmanship and creativity.
Documentation of the costume is required; you may show reference pictures, inspiration pictures, progress pictures, design sketches and finished pictures must be in color. And you need to make sure to include four (4) copies, One (1) for each judge.
The Adult Category judging of the Treasure Valley Comic Con Costume Contest will occur in two phases:
Contestants must be ready to go 30 minutes prior to the presentation evaluation.
CONTESTANTS WHO ARE LATE WILL BE DISQUALIFIED FROM THE COMPETITION
During the One on One evaluation contestants will be judged on construction, sewing, fabrication, and over all appearance of costume. Judges will verify original construction and modifications. Modifications will be carefully assessed by our judges.
Presentation Evaluation contestants will be judged on over all appearance, stage presence, character performance, creativity and originality.
The presentation evaluation for the Treasure Valley Comic Con Adult Costume Contest, to be held in front of a live audience the Auditorium, it is scheduled from 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM on Friday July 7th, 2017. (the one on one evaluations will occur at this time as well). Contestants need to be present and ready to go at 6:00PM

Child Category 5-12
This category is for children who just want to show off their costume.
Child Category (Teen) 12-17
This category is for teens who are budding cosplayers and want the opportunity show off their costumes.
If teens want to have their costumes evaluated one-on-one please let the Treasure Valley Comic Con Costume contest know and they will include them in the schedule; however, this evaluation will be just for the teen and allow them to obtain feedback from one of our Judges.
The Children’s Contest will occur on July 8th, 2017, from 10:30-11:30AM.
